connectivity department is a true successor in Nokia, where they offer so may ways, that we don’t think a small hand-held can bear.actually what the only limitation is that whole world cannot get things going in such a fast track to play along side with these devices to get the maximum use of them.this is the place where i got stuck with most of it.anyway let of get on with what I’ve got.
wi-Fi
this has virtually nothing new than the wlan wizard which i have on my N80ie.the standby screen wlan scanning is a great idea they came up with, and its ideal for frequent web surfers.the only thing that i figured out as an improvement was the stability of the connection.
GPS
this is where i was disappointed,i went to nokia maps and searched for the map of Sri Lanka and it was not there.i don’t know why that they haven’t included sri lanka in there list, event though our country is one of of the main tourists attractions there is not much tech is involved specially in the navigational field.recently i’ve seen that there are so many wi-Fi zones are been established even in the hotels located in very remote areas and it would be truly helpful for tourists to get in touch with there routes and map data.so i’ll be covering this in a new post to point out the importance of including our map.
TV-Out
This was the first time that I saw a Phone screen on a TV,and it is wonderful. The connection is very fast and stable, also the pictures are unbelievably clear. And its very simple, just have to connect the cable, select TV out in the phone and select AV1 in the TV and it’s done. There you go with all your icons and menus in the large screen with great clarity. When in the portrait mode you will see two black stripes at each side of the display,So what you have to do is install Samir’s Rotateme 2 on your phone and just rotate it into the landscape position. The TV screen will show you phone display in full screen and what else you need?Try this too,get Nokmote(also by Samir) and in the gallery You can navigate through Photos and songs by a slight inclination of your phone,so without much to press all you have do is hold the device in your hand and enjoy the glory with your eyes. One thing I notice was the quality of the captured videos is much better than on the PC.This is the perfect feature for mobile gamers who are bored with small screens. Also for presentations slide shows will become more handier than ever before.
IR, Bluetooth and the death of the pop port.
IR is one of the very first connectivity techniques introduced for mobile phones and with the arrival of Bluetooth it was gradually removed from most of the devices. But even after a long time of its era N95 still sports an IR port, which makes it an all-in-one device.Actually in present it has nothing to do with the data transfer between two phones but thanks tho Psiloc IR remote now your N95 replaces your TV remote too.
When it comes to connect your device to your PC one option is Bluetooth and the new BT version two is much stronger and stable than the previous version I have on my N80.With my N80 one of the things I hate is the pop port which gives me more than enough troubles, finally decided to give up and go for a bluetooth dongle. The pop port is very loose and gives so much trouble after use it for some time, the most annoying part is when it comes to firmware upgrading it puts the device in a a great risk.So the new mini USB connection is tight, firm and faster than the pop port. But it still needs some improvements to become the perfect, one thing is that when I connect the device through the mini USB it caused the device to restart several times, and the other one is why it cant work as as a charger?
