N82 : Camera- Glory of mobile photography

Few years back in past when the 1st camera equipped mobile phones hit the market, no one would have thought that they will become an alternative for your digital camera. When I was buying my 1st phone my impression on mobile phones was that they should be phones, which will allow you to make calls and send text messages. I never even looked towards a phone with a camera, because at that time the pictures taken with those poor quality cameras were so horrible. So why wasting money, to own a namely camera-phone? That was about 4 years ago, and by now how far things have improved. Actually now phones have come up in another step in their approach to become true-multitasking hand- helds, where phones are replacing many things one by one. So unless you are doing photography for living, no longer you will need a separate digital camera. I discovered the strength of mobile phone cameras when I first had my hands on the N95.It was a true-successor, and the N82 has become even better with its Xenon flash.

There are few things that you have to keep in your mind when you are getting on with digital photography, especially mobile phone photography, I don’t know whether I’m totally correct cos all these are based on my experiences.

1. You must have a satisfactory level of light, which you can easily have an Idea of looking at a distance object. If the air is too heavy and sky is gloomy there won’t be enough light to produce a sharp quality image. In such a situation you’ll probably notice some noise in your photos.

2. You must hold the phone firmly while you are shooting, cos unlike professional cameras, most of the phones are not made to provide a firm grip over them while we take photos. Therefore the shaking and shattering in your hands will result in blurry images.

3.And you have to have an basic idea of the right distance, the distance between the object and the lens.

So keeping these things in your mind, start to shoot, but with some patience too.

Actually I wanted to do a comparison with an N95, but I could hardly find one. So let me get on with some photos I took while the N95 was with me.

Indoor photography

N82 has one major advantage of having Xenon flash over N95s LED flash, when it comes to indoor photography. Most of the times light inside your house might not be enough to create good detailed photos. The reason is that interior lighting is not done for taking pictures and therefore when you are taking indoor picture it is likely to get well detailed in only one side and other side of the object will be darken.N95s LED couldn’t provide enough light to solve this problem, but the Xenon light of the N82 is a perfect solution for this. All these pictures were taken at night, but not in dark. The normal lights in the room was enough to create a good photo, with the aid of Xenon flash, Also no additional camera settings were adjusted, as they were shot in “Normal” mode. As you can see there are very clear and detailed and satisfactorily good.

Outdoor Photography

If there is enough sunlight, you can yield great outdoor photos with your N82.But you’ll notice some wash-away effect of colors if the sunlight is too much,In such situations by lowering the Exposure value you’ll get some improvements.

Macro

While I was having the N95,What I did most, was stick to the Camera with Macro mode. Before that, I had I never thought that a Mobile Phone camera can produce photos with this much of details.I’m sure that if you ever give a try, you’ll fall in Love with it.When I got the N82,I couldn’t stop my self from trying out macro immediately, and the results were astonishingly amazing.Whats so special I see in Macro or Close-up mode photography is that ,You’ll be able to capture very small and sensitive details, where some are even not visible (or noticeable) to your naked eyes at all.Especially with macro we can bring a micro world into a real big stage, where tiny lines, wrinkles, tentacles, strands of hair and miniature patterns play their roles with high level of details and expressions.A small field of grass or fungi can generate a picture of an enormous forest,A tiny berry will expose a pattern on its surface, thats what we can yield by getting so close to the nature. These things are everywhere, but you have to search with a creative eye. Also another big advantage of having macro mode is its ability of text scanning,Which will come very Handy if you are person who needs to refer books frequently, and I’m sure you might like to keep some most-important notes in your pocket. All you have to do is just scan them into some pics with the close-up mode and that will be very useful in-case you cant find a photocopier or a scanner. What I love most about the macro mode is,that it can take me very closer to the nature, where I can keep the smallest details I observe in photos.Among the most attractive nature captured on macro, flowers and little creatures are the most common, but you can try with some different things too.check my previous post where I took the macro mode in to pitch-black night.

Landscape

Landscape pictures have a special place in the world of photography.Thats why we have dedicated Mode for landscape, but I’m afraid that it can perform its best.I’m very much impressed about the N82 camera but when it comes to the Landscape mode it doesn’t produce what I expect from it.Saying so because the level me details in this mode is very poor and object are not well defined as we see them with our naked eye.So I don’t know whether I got something wrong, but anyway this didn’t work for me.

Some experimental shots

I always wanted to try something new.But I’m not sure whether I did it correct.I tried to photograph under direct sunlight, facing at the rising sun and the other thing is under very low sunlight,in the mist.In both cases you’ll notice that there not well captured.I think for these type of shots, there are still more advanced options waiting to be added to mobile phone cameras.

So alas, though there are few downfalls,The N82 is the best available mobile device to buy if you are really concerned about Mobile Photography. It does replace your digicam and,its a worth substitution.
