Today Nokia officially announced E66 and E71,at London and the best thing is that the doors are open for all of us as it goes live as a virtual event(right now on Tangler).So finally the two devices came out in the wild with tons of rumors,and probably the very first devices leaked(Intentionally leaked I think) long before they are announced(even a hint we didn’t get from Nokia)are no longer a secret.And it was the BGR who got the E71 for the Initial publicized review which created most of the goss among the bloggers and mobile geeks,and still they kept it as a secret until today.Though there was a Demonstration page published,suddenly it vanished,so seems that the Nokia’s New Marketing strategies are focusing on starting it “even before the Baby is born”,and they successfully gained lot of attention towards these devices.Mhh guess they’ve realized that word of mouth is lot better than the other marketing techniques…..Anyway another great event by WOM world and thanks Donna for the invitation.So lets get going with the specialties revealed with the videos and images came out at the virtual event.
E71
This beauty shows clear signs of Nokia’s future BlackBerry Invasion,the looks are irresistible and this new business device comes in two color variants,Metallic Black and White.The white one seems more sexier,but in the real life it looks bit different with the reflections,you’ll agree with me If you’ve seen the videos and pics.Also with the new design it still preserves the E61/E61i styling in a bit small scale,indicates that guys over at Nokia design has listen to the users and finally they have figured out that how much annoying the bulk gets when you need it in your pocket.And among the other handy features I noticed in the videos were the Intelligent Input system and the new calendar setup.According to what I understand the Intelligent Input Method is somewhat similar to the MobiSystem’s Quick Write,and it suggests list of possible words for the letter combination in a drop down list as we type,we’ll see more info about this very soon.And the new calender layout has optimized for busy users with Auto-scrolling of the calender entries on one side of the screen when we select a date.This enables the user to quickly skim through all the notes and it saves a lot of time.Apart from these the Official specs are available here
E66
E66 is another innovation of bringing your business right in to your pocket with the slim slider design.Apart from being a business device it is the second device to come out from Nokia with built-in Auto-rotation,which indicates the presence of accelerometer,and there will be rich variety of new applications coming into the E-series along with this.And another interesting thing I saw was the big Idle screen Clock that shows up by pressing any key while the phone is locked,this a long been awaited feature for s60 and glad to see it,showing up.Hope we’ll see this appear on other devices too.For rest of the features checkout the E66 Data sheet
Q&A
In the Q&A session with the product Mangers over at nokia virtual event,I was very curious about the bottom part of the E71 and the answer from the E71 PM was that “the bottom part is ment for operator co-labels – that is why it is separate”

So alas Nokia came up with two feature rich business devices(Actually successors for E65 and E61i) equipped with A-GPS and runs on the latest Feature Pack 2,also from the above pictures it’s obvious how much detail available on the standby screen.And hope the guys over at WOM world will soon add these two gorgeous devices onto their trial list very soon.
