After using E61i for 2 weeks, I haven’t changed my mind to go for an E-series. I’d prefer to stick onto Nxx devices as they have more features common with my needs, but still there are so many things that can be introduced to the Nxx devices from their Exx cousins. As both the families have the core operating system, the implementing features between them is logically possible, and even the systems themselves wont produce much restrictions. While I was using this device I found some features that I think, will facilitate and fascinate, the N-series users as much as they do with E-series users. Here’s a list of things that should be included in Nxx devices,
1.Customizable standby screen- This is a much anticipated issue among most of the N-series users and many have pointed out this.On this the standby screen shows, missed calls, unread messages ,new e mail notifications other than the calendar entries. These features shouldn’t be reserved only for business devices, as they will play a vital roll in N-series user habits. Especially the missed call indication, I truly miss it.

2.Light notification feature- Specifically I’m talking about N80 and N73,both of these devices have this light but, that is not being used for anything other than to let the user know that the device is running, while it is in sleep mode. But in E61i it is optimally used for other notifications as you can see in this screenshot. And we can choose what to notify and what is not to.

3.Also E-series devices are always rich with,pre-installed applications. There are some pretty interesting apps I found on E61i.Message Reader is one such fanciful utility that is not a must have, but worth having in case. The speaking is very clear and most of the times it pronounces in a understandable way.Another funky option provided is the voice aid.Office folder on these business devices are always full and rich with applications.Screen export and zip would be two good selections that will go with N-series.But the search on E61i is way behind the standby screen search, which is a successor for that old version.A good indication of E-series to N-series porting.

So still there are things that Nxx devices must learn from Exx,and hopefully one day a E-N hybrid will be brought into the Nokia’s mobile arena, and I’m eagerly waiting for that day.
