After a harsh week I’m back,I wasn’t absent only on my own blog but the whole web I missed so many hot stuff, and now I’m busy going through all of them.
Since the release of the N81 firmware,I’ve been wondering how long will it take to release the next firmware update for N95 8GB,but today according to what my fellow bloggers have reported the update v30.0.018 is almost out and some have even revealed the changelog for it.Why I was so eagerly waiting to see it,is that I was very exited by the Menu Transition effects of the N81 and sure anybody would like to see it on their devices. But unfortunately it looks like Nokia is not gonna put it out for the other pre-FP2 devices,so like the disappointed N82 users N95 8GB users will also get nothing for their visual satisfaction to reach the FP2 UI,with this update.Don’t know why did they put it on the N81 and not offering it for other FP1 devices, but for certain the reason cannot be a hardware issue,Cos if it is the RAM that matters, then N95 8GB and the N82 is far more superior than the Low end Gaming device N81,also I don’t think that these visual effects has nothing to do with graphics chips either.
So Ultimately there aren’t much new or significantly impressive on this firmware to me personally, cos both the Share online 3.0 and Maps 2 were there long before, though there were not integrated, many would have used and well familar with them by now.Again will this be another namely update like the previous one which brought auto rotation ,while disabling the Long press hash-Silent mode? Here you can see the changelog as it appeared on The Symbian Blog and p@sco’s blog.Still it is not available through NSU but if you are really mad for it you can give a try with PHOENIX.
Note : But If you take a close look at the above screenshot which was posted along with the reports it is clear that it wasn’t captured on a N95 8GB,the Standby screen has only 6 icons instead of 7,also the Firmware version it shows is not exactly the one they have reported and the date too.Does this mean that still there is a hope for a one with the Transition Effects, and this is not the final one??
Update : Over at GSi-R’s Blog I found this screenshot confirming the existence of the new firmware.
