My N95 8GB is Going Crazy

The first post after the break will be on a negative side of my S60 experience,I’ve been experiencing this odd and disgusting behaviours of my N95 8GB since the last firmware update, some bugs were there on it even before the update.I updated it to get rid of them, but it all turned out to be even worst than it was before. Some of them might not actual failures but they become so irritating in the middle of some operations,N95 8GB is the best s60 device in all means I’ve ever come across, there is no debate on it.When I was using my N80 I had to manually restart it because after a half a day of using, there is not enough memory to run the device, but now having the N95 8GB with its whopping 128MB of RAM,still I face the same problem, but not manually at least(that’s the real problem by the way) it restart time to time automatically and spontaneously.I’ve noticed some abnormal application behaviours too,so just thought of listing them here, and if any of you reading this have anything in common or similar please share your bug experience and also any ideas for solutions.
1. Each and Every time when the phone is powered on,an installation progress bar appears, indicating a software installation though there is nothing to be installed. And after about 10 5 seconds it prompts into a notification saying.“Unable to install application, please retry using application manager” . But there is no such pending installation shown in the Application Manager, when checked. Moreover the installer goes into background and stays there without quitting, its visible on the Task manager.
2. When using menu,it is usually supposed to go to the primary menu view when the Menu key is pressed, but instead it returns to the previously visited sub-menu or folder, which isn’t really a big deal but kinda fuzzy when it comes to a busy time.Think this is a result of installing Smart settings or Handy Shell,Any Comments??
3. Inbuilt help isn’t working after installing 3rd party applications(I have so much of them),dunno is it due to the immense amount of help file addition in to the default help, since most of the 3rd party applications have their help files embedded into the default help. This is one of the worst situations I’m experiencing on my phone from the very beginning.
4. Still the Menu Icon appears on top of the Menu Window, making rest of the underlying icons to be smaller than they should be.I removed it using the hack, but after few hours of usage it returns back.Gotta restart the phone again to make it disappear.
5. Once I open an application and forgot to close it,it is supposed to restart it when I click on its icon from the menu. But instead it opens another window of the same application causing the same application to run twice at the same time.Check out this screenshot.
6. At last the it’s the worst one.I’m having a ridiculous problem during calls. While attempting to make a call,if the receiving party is busy or not answered and then the phone will redial automatically, during the redial is in progress if I press the “Red Close Button” the device restarts immediately. This is killing me every time, and I badly need an explanation.
A pretty long list of complaints, and I’m sick of formatting my device again and again,so any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

My n95 8GB never encounter any of your problem. usually when I encounter the auto install like what you encounter, I just reformat it. your n95 8GB is corrupted. usually it will appear right after you finish upgrade your firmware, the upgrade will erase all 3rd party program like taskmanager, calcium etc.., and it will try to reinstall it, but due to missing program, it can't install properly..simply reformat it using *#7370#. the auto install will be gone and maybe all other problem will be gone also.after you perform the task.

Hi Ravindra,
The “Unable to install application, please retry using application manager” message could be because of some of the themes which you might have installed in the memory card. Sometimes it occurs if you have certain application installed which are felt to be unsafe by the installer. List out the recent apps which you have installed and remove each of those one by one & restart each time to find out which one is the culprit. Its a tedious method, but no other way..

Problem no 2) is due to the task manager which you have installed. Simply remove it or look for key menu settings in it. Problem no 3) is definitely due to lots of apps which you have installed. You need to remove the apps which are not useful.
I suggest simply back the most important apps and hard rest (*#7370#) the phone. It will be back to normal. Its better to hard reset the phone after upgrading the firmware

Hard reset buddy. I had a few of those problems after updating my N82 to the latest firmware and ended up doing a hard reset. But thats because the n82 has user data preservation – i can't remember if the n95 8gb does now? Either way hard reset and you won't regret it.
oh and go for jbak taskman!

V. 30.0.018 is my firmware. reformat everything to erase corrupt file. including your mass media. then run nokia updater to re-install ver. 30 firmware. that will eradicate all your problem hopefully.

that application problem, it exists on my N82 too… I haven't been able to find that software ever. However I can exit the application installer after it flashes the message. Guess its a bug!
