Blackberry Connect to return on Nokia?

rim-blackberry-logoRemember, a few months back Nokia had discontinued support for BlackBerry Connect for its devices. There was a huge hue and cry raised by the Blackberry Connect and Nokia users. In due course of time, Nokia after having tried it out, came out with its own email service on the lines of BlackBerry Connect, called Nokia Messaging.

Tom Furlong, Head of Nokia Messaging Services, in a recent interview with Reuters correspondent, Tarmo Virki said, “With the Nokia messaging service, we are going after consumers, we are not going head-to-head with enterprise e-mail. We are trying to put mobile email to the masses, masses of people around the globe,”

Nokia, last year dropped support for BlackBerry when it partnered with Microsoft and IBM for corporate email service. In the interview, Tom Furlong hinted very much at the return of BlackBerry to Nokia devices.

“We are in the interim period of time when we have dropped support ourselves, and BlackBerry is readying support for their service on Nokia devices,” he said.

This means that Nokia users could soon be getting their beloved BlackBerry services back on their devices. When, I don’t know, but rest assured I shall keep you posted.

So is Nokia Messaging going to remain a consumer centric service?, I don’t think so. If any of you, who are still using the Nokia Email service application and have not upgraded to Nokia Messaging, the ‘Help’ section might answer your questions. It mentions something about an ‘Enterprise’ version. but I don’t know when the enterprise version will be out.
