Today is the last day for the Nokia Messaging Campaign, which has been held by the good people at S60. This campaign is limited to the S60 Ambassadors residing in India and SEAP countries. All you need to do is register and talk about S60 and Nokia Messaging to the people you know and write a report about that interaction, it’s that simple.
Let me tell you a little about Nokia Messaging.
Nokia Messaging is a new service from Nokia which allows you to check your email on the phone. The application supports ‘Push’ functionality for Gmail accounts and a few others too. You can configure any email address from any provider (except Hotmail for some reason), this includes your ISP provided email address too.
But you must be wondering why do I need an application to do it, when Nokia phones have built in email support? Well the answer is simple. The Nokia Messaging application allows you to download the full email along with the attachment. This means that the mail is there on your phone, and so you can even view it when you are not connected to the internet.
Also Nokia Messaging allows your mails to be pushed to your device, which means you will be viewing your mails in real time ala BlackBerry Enterprise Services. And with support for upto 10 mailboxes, you will never be left behind, so that email from the boss can be replied to immediately while you check the email your wife or girlfriend sent you on your personal mail id.
Nokia Messaging is highly customizable and you can customize it according to your preferences. With folder support, all your folders are always in sync with your mailbox folders. HTML support is being worked upon even as I speak. The ease of use coupled with ease in setting up your mailbox means that you can be rest assured that Nokia Messaging will do the rest once you enter your email id and password!
I have been using this application for almost 4-5months now and I must say that it is the best application to have on a phone. I can’t imagine not having this on my phone anymore. I would very highly recommend this application, an absolute must have.
If you want this on your device, simply go to email.nokia.com and register there (free registration), the registration procedure is really simple and very clear. Once you are done you can setup all the accounts you want and then you can have the application sent to your phone via SMS (unfortunately this is the only way as of now). The application will install and at that time will fetch all the details you entered on the website and voila! your accounts are all setup and ready for use. In case you want to setup a new email account within Nokia Messaging now, you can either go to the website or simply do it from within the application (installed on the phone). Please do remember that you need to enable IMAP support from the “Settings” option in your mailbox. Also please remember this can be a data intensive application so please configure the application in the manner you feel is appropriate.
You can become an S60 Ambassador by clicking here. Again, registration is free and yes! there are benefits (Clintonjeff got a swag pack from S60 people!) to being an Ambassador. So hurry up and join! Don’t forget to mention me (adityasinghvi) as the referrer.

Yesterday Nokia Conversations outed a very fresh theme designed by the people at Ovi. The Ovi Blue theme as it is called. The theme brings the original Ovi icon set to S60 3rd edition devices like N81, N82 and older ones like N95.
This theme has its own custom ringtone and message tone along with a ’surprise’ i.e. a screensaver.
You can download it from here.
below are some more screenshots of the theme.

Yesterday also witnessed the announcement of Nokia’s application store, ‘The Ovi Store’. With this launch, Nokia also joins the likes of Apple, RIM (BlackBerry) and Samsung having online application stores for its products.
The Ovi Store will be location aware and will be launched this May in about 8 countries and will support close to 50 million devices, which includes existing S40 and S60 customers. The revenue split will be 70% to developers. In addition, the developer’s site publish.ovi.com was announced. The store will be able to “learn” your tastes over time and anticipate what you want, and make recommendations based on your geographical location. The store will offer a range of content including applications, games, videos, widgets, podcasts, location-based applications and personalized content.
UPDATE: ZomgitsCj reports that Samsung and LG phones (maybe even the Sony Ericsson too) will be able to use the Ovi Store. More on that here!
After ‘accidentally’ leaking out images of the Nokia N86, Nokia today finally launched the N86 officially. The Nokia N86 8MP is slated to be Nokia’s next flagship product.
The N86 8MP will be rocking the S60 3rd
edition with FP2. This time Nokia seems to have learnt it’s lesson by having burnt its fingers with the N96. The Nokia N86 8MP will have a 1200 mAH (BL-5K) battery. The N86 will also rock with a 2.6″ QVGA AM-OLED screen ala N85. the 8 Megapixel beast from Nokia is slated to take on its rivals with a dual LED (3rd generation) flash. The Carl Zeiss Tessar optics lens on this baby is in the same league as the sort of wide angle 35mm lens you’d find on an SLR camera and has been engineered to offer sharper image contrast and better colour representation. With 8GB of built in memory apart from 74MB of dynamic internal memory, the N86 will also offer a Micro SD card slot for Micro SDHC cards up to 16GB. Equipped with a
dual slider design, it will carry the legacy of the recent Nseries flagships.
Expect it to cost in the range of approx. 375 Euros (approx $470, Indian Rs 23,000) before taxes and subsidies. The Nokia N86 8MP should be available in Q2 2009.
