5630_01_lowresToday saw the launch of Nokia’s newest S60 member, the 5630 Xpressmusic. This device definitely shows some to come additions to the S60 FP2 firmware.

The 5630 Xpressmusic is going to be the slimmest S60 device ever! (112x46x12 mm, to be exact) Other features include a 2.2″ QVGA screen, 3.2 mega pixel camera with dual LED flash, Micro SD card slot with support for 16GB cards and a secondary camera in the front for making video calls (service is network dependent).

Images clicked and videos shot can be directly shared via a favorite online community, such as Share on Ovi, Flickr, or Facebook. The Facebook plugin for Share Online is new, expect it to be made available to the other devices as well.

In addition to this, the homescreen sports completely new look, a look that is similar to the 5800. But there is a slight modification to it, instead of just being able to assign only 4 names to the homescreen for calling, you can now assign upto 20 names. I hope the 5800 also gets this feature soon.

5630_03_lowresOn the music front, the Xpressmusic line does a good job by possessing a 3.5mm AV jack. This measn that you can easily upgrade to a new pair of headphones, connect it to a speaker and more. The phone also plays many audio formats. Standard buttons to the side for music functions and a new ‘say and play’ feature, where you just say the name of the song and the phone will play it (Feature works for only songs that are present in the phone’s memory or Micro SD card).

On the N-Gage front, yes this device will support the N-Gage application, so you can game on! And WiFi makes it even more awesome!

No word on the price bit, but Ricky a.ka Symbian-Guru is reporting it to cost about 199 Euros (US $258).

The phone will be getting its juice from the BL-4CT battery (Li-Ion), which is rated at 860mAH and should be good for 400 hours of standby and about 7 hours of talking.

The phone also supports USB charging and has a Micro USB slot with high speed data transfer capabilities.

In other news, yesterday the 5800 got a big firmware update (V20.0.012) and Maps also got an update and is up to V3.

Here is a video of the phone.
