Nokia is quite a lot in the news lately for oneĀ  reason or the other. With several high profile releases lined up for the coming months , i think it is entirely justified to have a consolidated Nokia focused post every weekend.

This weeks post will focus on the Nokia vs Apple Lawsuit , v20 Firmware and of course the N900. Click through for the entire article.

1. Nokia vs Apple

The focus of the entire tech world turned towards Nokia when they issued a press release announcing that they were suing Apple in a Delaware Court for copyright infringement. Breaking down the intricacies , we can see that Nokia has spent over 40 billion euros in researching UMTS , GSM and WLAN Standards. With over 10 patents governing basics of modern telephony, virtually all major mobile phones manufacturers are in an agreement with Nokia. It is quite clear which side the court will take . The settlement is expected to land Nokia upwards of 1 billion Euros.

2. N97 v20 Firmware

The fabled v20 Firmware for the N97 is still not available to all users. However as it has been added to RDA , we should expect it anyday now. Bringing Kinetic scrolling and better memory management , it has been dubbed by many as N97 2.0 ! Steve Litchfield of AllAboutSymbian recently had a play with the new firmware and seemed to be quite impressed. The device had about 16MB of RAM left with Ovi Maps , NGageĀ  , Browser amongst other apps open. I personally think that it is a great achievment on part of Nokia and would make the N97 a great mobile phone deals.

3. N900 delayed to November

This particular piece of news has been a blow to several gadget aficionados. The N900 has to be one of the hottest cell phones to launch this year. Expected to launch in October , it is rumored to have been pushed back to November. I believe that Nokia is trying to learn from its mistakes in the past by trying to deliver a solid , stable firmware at launch to deliver the ultimate Maemo experience.
