First of all my apologies for been away for a long time,it is almost 3weeks since I stopped writting here continuously. The last few weeks of the year was a real rush to catch up with, the hardest and busiest for me as it was throughout the year.2008 was a year that made so many changes in my life, speaking on me and my S60 experience.Briefly,
1.I graduated from Uni after completing my BSc in Science.
2.Got Engaged.
3.Saved two squirrel babies and raised them till they are ready to go back.
3.Won the N95 8GB from Nokia Fimmaking Awards.
4.Moved the blog from Symbian-life.blogspot to Symbian-LifeBlog.com.
5.Won the N78 from SymbiaNational Geographic Contest.
6.Got Married.
7.Got an offer from Australia to do my MSc.
8.Visa Granted.
That’s how things happened around me,and put me into a tight schedule, busy as never before.OK those things happened last year now it’s 2009 an goodbye 2008,my lucky year.
So in the very beginning of this new year I’m prompted to make a choice on the devices I use(me and my wife). It’s about the 5700Xpress Music that my wife Samudrika is using, the time has come to replace it with a much newer model,my main concerns are on,
1.GPS
2.A fast responding Camera.
3.Steady and a reliable device.
4.Should look pretty.
Right now I have N82 and N85 in my mind,N82 I have used but,the N85, have never even seen one in real.I love the N82’s features ,it was a real Story Telling Rediscovery when I trialed one few months back and I have no complaints on it.But the N85 is also good, which is indeed prettier and packed, only lacking the Xenon when compared to the N82,but recent trial reports from my fellow bloggers about the wobble in the slider mechanism is pulling my leg.Wobbly slider issue was killing me for a long time now since I was using my N80 and Now the N95 8GB.
So I’m stuck in-between two choices that I have to make by the end of this day.Does anybody have suggestions or opinions before I purchase one?

Your alarm goes off; you hit the snooze and sleep for another 10 minutes
He stays up for days on end
You take a warm shower to help you wake up
He goes days or weeks without running water
You complain of a ‘headache’, and call in sick
He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward
You talk trash about your ‘buddies’ that aren’t with you
He knows he may not see some of his buddies again
You complain about how hot it is
He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow
You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order
Wrong
He doesn’t get to eat today
Your wife/mother/ maid makes your bed and washes your clothes
He wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean
You go to the mall and get your hair redone
He doesn’t have time to brush his teeth today
You’re angry because your class ran 5 minutes over
He’s told he will be held over an extra 2 months
You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight
He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home
You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday
He holds his letter close and smells his love’s perfume
You roll your eyes as a baby cries
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they’ll ever
Meet
You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him
He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded – and of the
Innocents who have no one to stand up for them
You see only what the media wants you to see
He sees the broken bodies lying around him
You stay at home and watch TV
He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat
You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable
He crawls under a tank for shade and a 5 minute nap, only to be awakened by
Gunfire
You sit there and judge him, saying the world is probably a worse place
Because of men like him
If only there were more men like him!
At The World’s End

This Weekend was full of fun,as me, my wife and our Cousins went on a trip to the World’s End,one of Sri Lanka’s highest cliffs where you can experience the feeling of gaze into the end of the world!. Its about 710 m in height and most of the time, its fully covered with a thick mist, so the chances you get to see the world below clearly, are very rare. Beyond the cliff there is a cloud forest where the clouds run below you, this a heavenly place for many tourists ,and at the same time for some it’s a gateway to hell. Many have jumped from this haunted skystage committing suicide, where there bodies are rarely found. The journey to the World’s End is a bit tough as you have to walk about 4 km in and out so the at the end a good workout of 8kms in total. But the surroundings are astonishingly scenic, the meadows and streams are hauntingly beautiful, weather out there was so unpredictable sometimes you can see upto miles of forest and grasslands untill they meet the dull skies, but in the next instance you are lost in a thick mist, where the sound of blowing wind haunts your mind.
The high altitude, drives you across rapid change of climates, where foliage and the vegetation turns you imaginations into a presence of a gostly world. My N95 8GBs camera did a good job throughout the journey helping me to snap around 400 photos until its battery drained.I didn’t try to geo-tag the photos as I was afraid of loosing my battery for the GPS usage. There were some downsides too,I’ll bring them up in another post. There is whole lot of photos in this slideshow,so might need some spare time, but worth watching if you love the wild life and nature.

If you are a regular visitor here on symbian-life blog, you would have noticed me going on a very irregular pattern of posting, mostly been absent and even when it comes to a post there too wasn’t much new, rather than a news report or bit of copy paste. It was all due to the tight schedule and lack of time.
Why, it’s all because me been busy with the biggest moment of my life.On 12th of May I got engaged to Samudrika,my lovely wife and after 5 months, on October 23rd we had our wedding, that is the big reason behind my long disappearance. But now I’m back after the long break, seems like I’ve missed so many cool things,so gotta work hard catching up all those things and make everything right and running back again.
Here a bunch of snaps from my wedding,
and also some photos I took with my N95 8GB to show the surrounding beauty of the venue,Earl’s Regency Kandy.
Tribute to our Sentinels

In the recent past I didn’t come up with anything off-topic,but today I’ll be posting on a topic which totally deviates from the content of this blog but strongly connected to our lives here in Sri Lanka.War by its all means is not acceptable in any civilized human society, but the bitter-truth of the prevailing situation here in our country has a story of a co-existence,which is being developed in to a must.Ones peaceful life is the result of the sacrifice of another courageous brave hero, but sadly not all citizens who falls in to this beneficial party understand this, who are not ready to do a mere sacrifice to help our heroes who risk their lives for others. So no wonder why the rest of the world can’t understand the real situation here.
That’s why the mere definition of war is not applicable here, our troops are not after an economical profit,or to spread the power greedily over somebody elses property,it’s a humanitarian mission to secure the basic rights of the people, which goes beyond the definitions of the term”War”.For more than twenty years our country has suffered from this conflict,to fight the worlds most brutal terrorist group.Throughout this period time we’ve seen things that no one in this world would love to see,we’ve had enough of this unpleasant incidents, large scale human massacres,Suicide bombings and annihilation of innocent humans by these blood thirsty maniacs.
After years of fighting finally this chapter of unpleasant history is about to be closed, thanks to our troops moving towards their final destination. So in near future the so called war will be over,a past ruled by horror and terror will be buried for ever but memories of the greatest sacrifices ever made to achieve this shouldn’t be forgotten. It’s our duty to salute and support the sentinels of our nation, who are fighting to death, not for their own lives but to secure ours.So finally It will not be a victory yield by killing but by securing a peaceful approach to a better future, with courage and sacrifice. So time has come to remove the shades of politics from your eyes and look positively towards a better future as united nation.
